Icelandic Pop Artist Hildur Releases New Single ‘1993’

‘1993’ is the new single from rising Icelandic pop artist, Hildur. Released through Anti-Fragile Music, the track is a nostalgia-laden uplifting anthem, about learning to trust yourself, and is taken from her upcoming ‘Intuition EP’, set for release in early summer.

Hildur won the award for Pop Song Of The Year in 2017, with her single, ‘I’ll Walk With You’, at the Icelandic Music Awards, and was also nominated that year as Newcomer Of The Year.

Speaking about the track, Hildur said,

1993 is an autobiographical anthem of my childhood. It was when I was 5 that I realized my dream was to create, tell stories and stand on stage. As per the hook – “When I grow up I wanna be me”, it came to me as it was only recently I realized I had really became the person the 5 year old me wanted to be and was doing all the things I had dreamt of, without really giving myself the credit. This song is my journey and all the loopholes and fallbacks it took, all the disbelief but passion I experienced, all the insecurity and the creativity- which is me.So if my 5 year old self could hear one song from the future, I would want it to be this one. And I hope someone else on their journey to become themselves can relate.

Hildur is an artist of many facets and the latest name to come out of Iceland, which has a tendency to produce people who rise to the top of their field. Her most recent single, ‘Picture Perfect’, debuted on 6 Spotify New Music Friday playlists: global; USA; Sweden; Norway; Iceland; and Denmark, and has garnered over a million streams to date. Hildur is more than just a singer – she is a top liner songwriter, lyricist, and a professionally trained classical cellist.

Additionally, Hildur uses her craft as a platform to spread a message of gender equality and positive role models. Her self-awareness as a woman in the music industry, and her need to lead by example is obvious in her music, image, and the team of people she chooses to work with. She has also launched a campaign, entitled #TrustYourself. Using her life experiences, and natural storytelling ability, she shares how to trust our own intuition and calls on her fans to share their own stories of how they’ve learned to #TrustYourself.

‘1993’ is out today through AntiFragile Music. You can find Hildur online on Instagram, Facebook, SoundCloud, Spotify, and her official website.
