VENTIDO$ Is Looking For A ‘Savior’ With New Single

VENTIDO$ is a new rap artist from Houston, Texas, whose single ‘Savior’ is a heartfelt plea for someone to save him.

Opening with a riff reminiscent of ‘Falling’, by Lil Rarry and Drippy Boy Water, we are immediately struck by the emotion of the lyrics, into which Ventido$ has clearly poured his heart and soul. The track is essentially a two person conversation: both have had hard times, and we hear one offering help to the other to kick their bad habits; the second person pleads for a savior to help them get through the hard times. It’s quite moving, and touches on very strong themes, with the first person outlining their own thoughts and experiences, and the second replying with their own. There’s a lot of drug references, as well as other deeper mentions, but overall what struck us most was the honesty of the lyrics, which although very sad, evoke deep feelings in the listener. Ventido$ has allowed us to look deeply into his inmost thoughts and at we feel at once both touched and yet slightly instrusive, due to how personal the lyrics are.

Sonically the track feels like a blend of both grime, and drum and bass; there’s a very pleasing bell-like sound underpinning the entire song, which calls to mind ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ by Coolio. In fact overall the whole tune is very refreshingly Old Skool in feel.

Ventido$ has a sound that is refreshing and strikingly emotive, you can’t help but be affected by both his music and his lyrics.

‘Savior’ is the first track from the 22 year old artist, and comes ahead of his album, ’22YR$L8R’ which he will be releasing soon. If ‘Savior’ is anything to go by, then we can expect more gritty, down to earth, and heartfelt songs to come.
