SJ’s ‘Dance To Sleep’ Is A Soothing Lullaby

‘Dance To Sleep’, from alt folk artist, SJ, comes from his new EP, ‘Nikki’, released in December. The EP is the singer’s first original release since 2013.

A lightly acoustic track featuring guitar and other strings, as well as SJs soothing, and slightly drawling voice, ‘Dance To Sleep’ is as much a lullaby as a love song. SJ assures the object of his affections that he’s always going to be there; no matter what. It’s gorgeously upbeat and yet at the same time calming and peaceful, with violins in the background and his guitar and vocals at the front.

SJs EP, ‘Nikki’, represents the next stage in the artist’s journey. Taking a break from releasing music in 2013 in order to settle down and start a family, the EP is an anthemic homage to that life, and the love that guides him through his days. ‘Dance To Sleep’ is just one of five tracks on the EP, but it’s a great example of what else to expect. Stylistically SJs music is a blend of alt-folk and acoustic, tinged with rock, and Americana. His songs are hook-laden and very pleasing on the ears, with the focus on the quality of the production, and clarity of the vocals. ‘Dance To Sleep’ and the rest of ‘Nikki’ is the perfect music to listen to on an Autumn evening, or driving in your car – actually, the perfect music to listen to whenever or wherever you are.

SJ is based in Florida, and his music has been compared to that of Jack Johnson, Donovan Frankenreiter, John Mayer, and Dave Matthews. He started releasing original music in 2009, and over that time he’s earned more than two dozen independent artist music awards and nominations, including “Discovery Of The Year” by Sirius XM The Coffeehouse, in 2011.

You can find out more about SJ online on his official website, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Stream and download his music from Spotify, SoundCloud, iTunes, and Amazon.
