Drax Project ft Hailee Steinfeld – ‘Woke Up Late’

Drax Project, from New Zealand, have teamed up with multi-platinum seller, and Academy® Award-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld for a fresh take on the pop anthem, ‘Woke Up Late’. Pairing smooth pop vocals with an irresistable beat, and very candid lyrics about a night out and a morning in, the collaboration is a bouncy earworm with a contagious energy.

Speaking about the track, Drax Project said,
‘Woke Up Late’ is about wrapping your head around the adventure of the night before and ultimately deciding that you’re cool with it. Given the nature of this story, it did cross our minds while writing it as to how it might work as a duet – with a female voice telling her side. We’re all huge big fans of “Starving” and “Let Me Go,” so were beyond stoked to get Hailee on song! She absolutely kills it in movies and in music. We feel like having her vocals take both the sonics and the feel of the song to another level!
Drax Project have been described by Clash Magazine as “delicious pop with a prodigal feel”, and have seen a phenomenal rise to success. The fourpiece, comprising Shaan Singh, Matt Beachen, Ben O’Leary, and Sam Thomson, have seen their career go from busking on the streets of Wellington to playing alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, and fellow New Zealander, Lorde, the latter two of whom hand-picked the band to support their tours.
Their EP, ‘NOON’, released last year, saw Drax Project showcase four new songs, including the certified gold, ‘Toto’, and the hit, ‘Woke Up Late’, which went on to win Single Of The Year at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. Drax Project have more recently featured on Famous Dex’s track ‘Light’, which appears on his debut album, ‘Dex Meets Dexter’.
Hailee Steinfeld has established herself a force to be reckoned with in pop music, with her 2015 double platinum debut single, ‘Love Myself’, the double platinum-selling smash ‘Starving’ with Grey [feat. Zedd], the platinum-selling summer anthem, ‘Most Girls’, and platinum-certified single, ‘Let Me Go’. To date, the multi-platinum-selling artist has amassed a total of nearly 2 billion streams globally.
In   addition   to   her   thriving   music   career, Steinfeld is an Academy® Award-nominated and   critically acclaimed leading actress.  She is currently starring in Paramount’s ‘Bumblebee’, and voices the character of “Spider-Gwen” in the animated, big-screen experience ‘Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse’, which are both in cinemas now.
