Minimalist Techno Group ScoutSom Are A ‘Shamash’ With Latest EP

ScoutSom are a minimalist techno group, based in Berlin, Germany, and made up of Alexandre Antoni and Roberto Filippi. The pair have been working musically for over 20 years, and their most recent release, ‘Shamash’, is an EP of four tracks with an experimental industrial sound.

‘Shamash’, released December 1, is the cumulative result of songs the pair have been working on during the past year. ScoutSom aim to make music which recreates soul via a variety of electronic elements. The techno sound, without lyrics, is truly universal; nobody is required to understand any particular language, but as everyone knows music, they are merely required to listen and be moved by the sounds.
ScoutSom believe that improvisation is the key to the relationship between human creativity and technology, and they explore this with their music.
Each of the four tracks on the EP, ‘Rosemount’, ‘Karlmarxstraße’, ‘Namour’, and ‘Rathaus Neukölln’, conveys a different feel; and there is a clear relation between ‘Karlmarxstraße’ and ‘Rathaus Neukölln’, which is made all the more evident when you realise that the Rathaus (town hall) of Neukölln (one of Berlin’s twelve boroughs) is itself located on Karlmarxstraße.
ScoutSom are known for the compelling live performances, and and have toured the world, including shows in Sao Paulo and Montreal. You can find out more about them online on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and SoundCloud, as well as their official website.
‘Shamash’ is available now on all major digital platforms.
