Juno Reactor – ‘Let’s Turn On’

Trance artist Juno Reactor’s new single, ‘Let’s Turn On’ comes with one of the most electrifying, kinetic, magical videos you’ll have seen this year.

Juno Reactor leader, Ben Watkins, has a reputation as an internationalist, with a striking one-world vision, and as a result, his project, The Mutant Theatre, is staffed with artists from all over the globe. The new soon to be released Juno Reactor album – out on June 22 – will also be named after them.

The video for ‘Let’s Turn On’ is filled with otherworldly landscapes, while the performers wear elaborate suits of light and what appears to be electronic plate mail. The clip suggests at once a disco, a circus, and space – flashes and beams of light are everywhere. It’s like Tron crossed with Star Wars.

Ben Watkins has long been one of the cornerstones of Goa trance, and has also dabbled in other styles, ncluding contemporary pop, anime, and film soundtracks (Juno Reactor has composed music for ‘The Matrix’ series of movies and video games), symphonic music, and tribal folk. ‘Let’s Turn On’ will burn up the dancefloor, but with its interlocking riffs, sophisticated beats, and digital vocals, show it’s also a fabulous work of modern electro-pop.
