Jaicee Rentz – ‘Superzoomy Space Ships’

From San Clemente, California, teen singer songwriter Jaicee Rentz writes rustic tunes influenced by the dance pop of Carly Rae Jepsen and the acoustic sound of The Lumineers. Her debut release, ‘Colors’, started out as midnight downloads and were later fleshed out in the studios of Roshambo Sound, Orange County.

Sixteen year old Jaicee was hands on in the studio, multi-tracking keyboards, guitar and banjo, while at the same time giving the tracks her own stamp with her gloriously punchy vocals. Refusing to be compared to other top 40 acts of a similar age to her, Jaicee’s allbum betrays the innocence of the artist, who assumed the audience for her album would be limited to “grandmas and grandpas”. Nonetheless, her storytelling style and innate indie sensibilities see the potential to reach a far wider group.

‘Superzoomy Space Ships’, an off-the-cuff, experimental track, harnesses psych and indie vibes, and combines them with a polished production and imaginative lyricism. It’s a fun song, and the perfect introduction to someone who has a very bright musical future ahead of her.
