Ben Bostick – ‘No Show Blues’

Californian country rocker Ben Bostick knows all too well what it’s like to want to throw it all in and head for the hills when you’re having a bad day. His new single, ‘No Show Blues’ however is what he considers the solution to this frustration, and to boot, it also comes with a great music video.

‘No Show Blues’ is the first single from Bostick’s soon to be released album ‘Hellfire’, which itself is a collection of darkly funny outlaw country songs. With tight rhyming and a gravelly voice, ‘Hellfire’ is the follow-up to Bostick’s self-titled debut, released in 2017.

Ben Bostick’s live shows have been praised highly, and through these he’s become a fixture on the SoCal club circuit. The clip for ‘No Show Blues’ shows Bostick getting out of LA, gradually stripping himself of all the vestiges of his city life – his office job clothes, golf clubs, wedding ring…and he re-makes himself as a wild west dude, by way of a stolen straw hat. But as he’s driving to freedom though the desert, he gets caught out on a salt flat (not difficult to do – take it from someone who’s been there done that) and realises the only way he’s going to make it back home is by drawing attention to his situation. He grabs what’s left of his clothes from the trunk of his car and sets fire to them, as the sun sets and the night draws in.
