Judith Hill – ‘The Pepper Club’

Judith Hill has performed backing vocals for Michael Jackson, Josh Brogan, and Stevie Wonder; she additionally dueted with Jackson on ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You’ during his ‘This Is It’ tour. She opened for on John Legend’s ‘All Of Me’ tour in 2014, and had her debut album produced by Prince. Judith auditioned for season four of The Voice, broadcast in 2013, singing Christina Aguilera’s song, ‘What A Girl Wants’, causing all four judges – Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher, and Blake Shelton all pressing their buttons and turning their chairs to choose her. Eventually she chose to join Team Adam, who said, “She’s going to be a Grammy-winning superstar, and she’s on my team”.



‘The Pepper Club’, Hill’s latest release, is a fierce funk-pop – a sixties feeling song with a modern edge. The track has everything Hill is known for: fantastic delivery, exquisite sense of rhythm, and of course her wonderful voice. The song comes with a a fun, dance music video, with director Jon Jon Augustavo transforming a truck-stop petrol station, diner, and motel into a playground, for joyous performers. The camera lens swirls around Judith and her collaborators, joining in as they dance around the floor.

Choreographer Misha Gabriel, who’s known for working with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, and Hill says that Gabriel “played an integral part in making this video magical.” The synchronised dance routines nonetheless allow each diner patron to express their personality. Urban dance pioneer Bradley Rapier plays Mr. Tibbs; So You Think You Can Dance? Season 14 winner Lex Ishimoto plays Charlie; Ishimoto’s girlfriend (and fellow SYTYCD contestant), Taylor Sieve, plays Charity; well-known choreographer Tessandra Chavez plays Georgia Mae; Travis Wolfe Jr., an incredible new talent, plays Penny; and the cast is rounded out by the stunning Melany Centeno playing Josephina.
