Five Of Janis Ian’s Best Albums To Be Released On All Formats 25 May Ahead Of Cambridge Folk Festival Appearance

Janis Ian spoke for many teens during that awkward phase where we were more than a girl but not yet a woman with the anthemic, ‘Seventeen’, released as a single from her 1975 album, ‘Between The Lines’. This album and four others, ‘Stars’ (1974), ‘Aftertones’ (1975), ‘Miracle Row’ (1977), and ‘Night Rains’ (1979), have been re-mastered and will be re-issued on all formats from May 25.

Now returning to the UK to headline the Cambridge Folk Festival in August, the 10 time Grammy Nominee (and winner of the 1976 Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance – Female, beating Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy, and Linda Rondstadt) will re-release some of her most important albums. Recorded between 1974-1978, when Janis had firmly established herself as a platinum selling international artist, this body of work represents a benchmark in quality amongst the great female singer-songwriters of our times. All 5 albums have been lovingly remastered from the original tapes, overseen by Grammy-award winning Steve Berkowitz. The albums will be released on 180g vinyl and CD, with vinyl artwork faithfully replicating that of the original pressings.

All the album re-issues are available to pre-order now on Amazon.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
