Essentially Pop Makes #8 Spot On Feedspot’s Top 25 Pop Music Website List!

Here at Essentially Pop we don’t do a lot of tooting our own trumpets, rather we just get on with it, writing about all your faves and highlighting a lot of artists that you might never have otherwise come across. But from time to time, something amazing happens that makes us really very very proud, and today is the occasion of one of those things.

We got word today that Feedspot has included us in their list of the ‘Top 25 Pop Music Blogs And Websites For Pop Music Fans’ – or, as their featured image (above) proclaims, and quite frankly, the title we prefer, ‘Best Pop Music Blogs On The Planet’. The list is technically the top 28, and we’d have been chuffed to be included at number 28 even, but for whatever reason, and we’re not arguing their grounds for doing so, we’ve been given the number 8 spot. And unsurprisingly, we’re quite happy about that. Very happy indeed in fact.

Feedspot is the content reader for reading all your favorite blogs and news websites in one place. They’ve ranked the blogs in their list based on the following criteria:

  • Google reputation and Google search ranking
  • Influence and popularity on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites
  • Quality and consistency of posts
  • Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review

For a music website that’s only now really finding its feet in year 5, to be given such a high peer appraisal is very humbling. On the list are others we’ve held in massively high regard, such as Popjustice, Idolator, PopCrush, Classic Pop Magazine, and This Must Be Pop. All the blogs on the list are fantastic reads, and we hope that you visit them – and Feedspot – as well.

We must also mention one of our former writers, Steve McPherson, also made the cut, with his music blog, Talk About Pop Music, coming in at a not at all shabby 20th place. Go give his blog some love, it’s brilliant, and we’re really proud of our part in Steve’s success.

Go check out the list, you can find it here. Thank you for being loyal readers of Essentially Pop. We’ve come a long way, but we’ve still got a long way to go.
