Mr Vegas – ‘Follah Da Leadah’

Growing up in Kingston, Jamaica, and originally known as Clifford Smith, Mr Vegas has been a master of dance tracks since the 1990s, and during his high school years started writing lyrics and recording songs, with his first hit, ‘Nike Air’, in 1997. Mr Vegas’ latest song, ‘Follah Da Leadah’ is out now.

Mr Vegas has found himself garnering praise from the cream of the music industry, including Soul Train, who declared him Reggae Artist of the Year, Google Music, who included him in their top 50 albums of 2012, iTunes, Complex Magazine, and many many more. With a mix of classic reggae and dancehall as his signature sound, he’s managed to gain traction in the industry and performed with both music legends and newcomers, including Brandy, T-Pain, Future, and Nicki Minaj.

Mr Vegas has been making music videos to go with his songs, with fantastic results, such as ‘G.O.A.T’, which has so far earned over one million YouTube views. ‘Follah Da Leadah’, with its positive and upbeat message certainly looks set to follow in its footsteps.

The video opens with shots of children learning the dance Mr Vegas demonstrates throughout the clip, immediately stressing the positivity of the clip and making viewers want to join in, with the refrain, “One two step then rock your shoulder.” Uplifting and contagious, ‘Follah Da Leadah’ makes us want to get up and join in with rocking to the beat all over Jamaica.
