Rossemberg Maza – ‘A Bad Guy’

Electronic music has over the past few years moved from being an underground niche moved to having a culture and universe of its very own. Growing up in Villahermosa, Mexico, Rossemberg Maza moved to Lancaster, Lancashire, England, to attend university. Living in Europe allowed Rossemberg to immerse himself in the world of EDM, but deep down – “Villahermosa still represents safety and creativity.”

Maza released his first album in 2015, ‘Through It All’. The songs were strong, but nonetheless there was room for improvement. New single, ‘A Bad Guy’ came from a trip to Tokyo and a love of concept albums, such as ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ from The Beatles – and led to him exploring and embracing new ideas, with the thought, “What if I am the bad guy?” – soon the lyrics were written and the song was born.

The video for ‘A Bad Guy’ is intentionally complicated, and leaves room for a lot of interpretation, although Maza stresses, he “put a safe line to keep it entertaining.” Shot in Vienna, as well as a small town in Austria with supermodel co-star Victoria Karner, it’s filled with picturesque scenery. The video is simple, elegant, but with a sting in the tail.
