Essential Advent Calendar: Matt Legrand – ‘What Christmas Means To Me’ (Stevie Wonder cover)’

We’ve introduced you previously to French-born Chicago-raised Matt LeGrand, with his single, ‘All Good’, a track with a Caribbean feel to both song and video. Now he’s back with a festive release, a cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘What Christmas Means To Me’.

Wanting to give his fans a holiday treat, Matt, who’s been working hard the past few months with a vocal coach and choreographers, as well as perfecting his craft on his own, has released his take on a great classic. He found ‘What Christmas Means To Me’, and so fifty years after Stevie Wonder released his own version, LeGrand has given it his own character, updating it and giving it a current vibe. The track is upbeat and fun and Matt’s enthusiasm and strong voice ensures this is his best vocal performance to date. The video was shot in Miami, and in order to make the 80 degrees F outside feel like a winter’s day, they turned the aircon on COLD and filled the place with Christmas decorations. We’re sure you’ll agree that so far as conveying the seasonal spirit goes, this does the trick.
