Anna Ross was always destined to be a singer. Growing up in a musical house, it was her first love, and she was encouraged from an early age to explore her interest in music.

“I have been singing for as long as I can remember. My mother plays classical piano and, according to her, before I could even speak I used to sing melodies back to her. And then as soon as I was able to talk, I would sing along with whatever song came on the radio.”

After leaving school, Anna performed live around Newcastle at local gigs, and from there formed the duo, V Corporation, who had their national debut on iconic TV show, ‘The Tube’. Upon the duo’s breakup, Anna moved down to London and started working as a backing vocalist for the likes of Lisa Stansfield, Stereophonics, Tom Jones, Sting, and Tina Turner. From there she joined Duran Duran’s touring party as their backing vocalist, and has performed on several of their most recent recordings.

Duran Duran have backed Anna all the way, with Simon Le Bon co-writing the lead single and title track of her new album, ‘First Day’, while Duran Duran bassist John Taylor co-produced a remix of the track with Charles Scott. Second track ‘Karman Line’ was co-written by Anna Ross with Paul Harris and Simon Hulbert.

“Since I first met and worked with Anna, I’ve always held her musical talents in high regard,” says Simon Le Bon. “It was only a matter of time before we did some writing together, and it has been such a gratifying experience to do so on our three songs.”

‘Karman Line’ showcases Anna’s strong vocals and the up-tempo keyboards and synths are the perfect match for her voice. The backing vocals are layered in such a way as to provide a beautiful harmony.
