Mr. Flannery and His Feelings – ‘Embers Of Dead Fires’

The second release from his album, ‘Try Your Hardest’, Mr Flannery and His Feelings’ track, ‘Embers Of Dead Fires’ is a retro-sounding pop-rock track with a provocative video which will have you on the edge of your seat.

The follow-up to his track, ‘Hymn Of The Isolated Artist’, ‘Embers Of Dead Fires’ is a macabre and down-tempo song, accompanied by a black & white video of him chained and suspended over a pool, like a Houdini-style escape artist.

We see his masked assistant chain his body and his feet, then handcuff him, after which he is hoisted over a swimming pool, and lowered slowly into the pool. The viewer is never sure until the last moment if he is able to make his escape, while at the same time, the lyrics are taking on emotionally complex subject matters. Altogether, ‘Embers Of Dead Fires’ is a beautiful song and video, and it’s therefore not surprising to discover that Mr Flannery is Michael Flannery, a well-known New York/New Jersey producer, arranger, sound engineer, collaborator and sideman.

‘Try Your Hardest’ is available on vinyl and CD here, and as a digital download here. You can find out more about Mr Flannery and His Feelings online on his official website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
