Rock Duo Red Aster Release Debut Single ‘Seven Years’

Released on 24 July, ‘Seven Years’ is the debut single from Australian rock duo, Red Aster, and comes ahead of their EP, out later this year.

Red Aster are a two piece electric guitar driven band, whose style has been described as “Gothic Grunge with spatial percussion”. Comprising guitarist David Blythe (also percussion) and vocalist/lyricist Karen Rosenberg, Red Aster worked hard to ensure their raw sound was preserved throughout the recording process, resulting in energetic and raw tracks, which pull the listener in to the grungy atmosphere.

David and Karen’s friendship has always been based on music, spending many evenings in the early days writing simple acoustic songs, and playing covers, before their other projects, family, travel, and day jobs found them living in separate states – Queensland and Victoria – and even different countries – for many years. Rather than let a good thing go, they maintained their musical connection, and they eventually found time to come together and work on their collaboration. ‘Seven Years’ speaks of the frustration and regret of wasting time, and is rocky and dark, with a hard-hitting lead guitar riff. Drawing influences from the likes of PJ Harvey and Adalita, ‘Seven Years’ is an impressive debut for Red Aster and promises great things yet to come from the duo.
