Jace The Great – ‘Celebration’

Jace The Great, real name Jamal Gray, came to prominence with his track ‘Black Lives Matter’ back in 2015, a politically charged song and accompanying movie which looks at the struggle that exists to get past the same racial disparities that have dogged the USA for centuries. Now Jace is back, with ‘Celebration’ – a track that is worlds away from his previous release, and shows the positive side of his city of Newark, New Jersey.

Jace The Great’s music has one common theme, and that is it’s “hip hop with a statement”. The video for ‘Celebration’ shows Newark citizens of all ages gathering to ride bikes, swing on the playground equipment, and enjoy a barbecue on a beautiful sunny day. Sonyae Elise, also from Newark, and the winner of Bravo TVs Platinum Hit, harmonises with Jace on the track. Jace’s rhymes are inspirational and uplifting, such as,

“Even on my worst day, Imma celebrate.”
