Ivy Layne – ‘One You Love’

Born in the Ukraine and moving to France with her family when she was still a young girl Ivy Layne always knew she wanted to be a singer, and grew up listening to the likes of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Gwen Stefani. Ivy moved to New York to hone her musical style and tone, and has now released ‘One You Love’, her from her debut EP, ‘In Time’.

‘One You Love’ has a fusion style, combining electric dance pop, European funk, and Caribbean rhythms, which gets the listener up and moving. Ivy’s sound is heavily influenced by her upbringing, and the ‘In Time’ EP is a mix of upbeat summer jams and rhythmic ballads.

The video for ‘One You Love’, directed byCala3reeze, has an interesting story, involving a seduction, lots of money, and a hitman. Ivy and her lover are in the bedroom, about to enjoy some loving, but then we see there’s a hitman wanting to come and collect the money Ivy fondles on the bed. All is well however, with Ivy’s lover taking out the hitman. There’s a striking contrast to the narrative with Ivy and dancers cavorting in the dark, their lips and bodies highlighted by neon lipstick and white clothing. The track with its Caribbean beats is enticing and catchy, and pulls the listener in with its rhythms.
