The Hummingbirds new EP ‘Moving On’ is out on July 28

Any band coming out of Liverpool have a lot to live up to; it has a fine musical heritage and it’s impossible for that not to seep into the bones of bands from that great musical City.

This is definitely the case with The Hummingbirds who have combined outstanding harmonies with strong songwriting and rhythm guitars. The lyrical content and guitar arrangements have an almost Country feel at times but is quintessentially British and most definitely Mersey.

Having played sell out tours last year in Liverpool and London, they a have built up a loyal following of fans and have added to this by playing the festival circuit too. They have supported bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen but are now certain to be headlining more venues sooner rather than later as their musical progression continues. The band consists of a Jay Davies on lead vocals, Mic Kountis on guitar and backing vocals, Richard Smith on drums and backing vocals, Matty Brougham on rhythm guitar and Ryan Lewis on bass.

This week sees the release of their new EP entitled Moving On and it’s sure to please established fans and gain new fans alike with its killer harmonies and ear catching guitar harmonies. Typical Scouse humour wrapped in contemporary melodies is a sure fire way to get the attention and I would recommend an early listen . There’s something about this band that suggests they may be the next big band to come out of this great musical City.

Tracks on the new EP are ‘Moving On’, ‘And It’s You’ , ‘Come Home’ and ‘Last Time’ . For me there are shades of one of my personal favourites Del Amitri in the harmonies and just a nod towards the Everly Brothers but all done with a very modern twist that echoes Jake Bugg and if that hasn’t whet your appetite nothing will. The EP is released on July 28 and can be found in all the normal places. Enjoy!
