Stela Cole Crosses Genres With Feisty ‘You FO’

Atlanta artist Stela Cole combines 50s doo-wop with deep trap sounds in the unique and extremely catchy ‘YOU F O’.

The exposive track sees Stela take on the dual roles of Cinderella and Barbarella – “about to blow your mind like interstellar”. Her expert rhyming works well with the instrumentation and doo-wop backing vocals. ‘YOU F O’ sees Stela go from Sandra Dee to Nicki Minaj in a matter of seconds. With the pulsing bassline underlining the backing vocals and instrumentals (including what sounds like a merimba) it really shouldn’t work, but it does – helped in no small part by Stela’s storytelling lyrics.

Stela takes her Atlanta sass and imbues it with a West Coast style which beautifully showcases her gorgeous voice. ‘YOU F O’ is the third in a series of summer releases for Stela Cole, and was co-written and produced by VCDC, an Anglo-American production trio, who cut their chops under the wings of Ben Allen (best known for his work with Cee Lo Green) and Miles Walker, who’s worked with Icona Pop, Rihanna, and Iggy Azalea.
