Eat The Evidence Are Far From Politically Correct And We Like It – ‘Tories Go To Waitrose’

We love a bit of ska around here and when it comes in a punk wrapper we like it even more.

Eat The Evidence, a gloriously satirical group from London, poke fun at the shopping habits of the Conservative Party, with the very irreverent, ‘Tories Go To Waitrose’. It’s uptempo in the extreme, and very very very non-politically correct. For someone who grew up in the 80s on a diet of Madness and The Specials, this is more than just a trip down memory lane: it’s also got me up and pogoing.

The song is meant to imply that the Tories have more money than they know what to do with – you won’t see them in the freezer section of Sainsbury’s no no. There’s also a witty riff about Loyd Grossman. The song does inadvertently however suggest that they think where their food comes from, with the band being the first to admit their error:

“The song accidentally implies that the Conservative Party might shop ethically. Although we do hate the Tories, the song doesn’t make much sense.”

Whatever! It’s fun, it’s flippant, and it might well sway a few voters to sling one Jeremy’s way. You know it’s right.
