Laust Sonne – ‘Reckless’

Danish artist Laust Sonne is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, possibly best-known for playing drums in renowned Danish rock band, D-A-D, as well as having released two albums with his band Dear, and playing guitars and drums in Bugpowder.

Laust has performed as a solo artist previously, with his 2008 hit, ‘Spell On You’, and his self-titled album (2011). He released second solo album ‘Relations’ in 2016 through Danish label, Billy B Records, and the new single from that album, ‘Reckless’, is a romantic pop song, which dares the object of his affections to be reckless – “I’m all in, I’m all for you.”

In an interview with MindFuck Society, Sonne describes his music as “Modern Pop w Heart”, and we agree, with ‘Reckless’ having a the sort of sound that would equally find its place on the dancefloor as in Eurovision. In other words, it’s a track with classic written all over it.

The music video is a one man show, with shots of Laust – at first in black and white walking down a snow-covered road – taking the mic, playing the keys, beating the drums, playing guitar, and driving a Porsche through clouds of smoke. The focus is clearly all on Laust, and quite rightly so.

There’s a touch of the home-made to the video, with a feel like it’s been shot on a super-8 camera, with subdued colouring and creative jump shots. The track is feel-good and cheerful, and we hit the replay button almost immediately.

‘Relations’, including ‘Reckless’, is available from the official Laust Sonne webshop at Billy B Records, as well as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Germany.
