Sarah Schonert Releases Full-Length Album ‘My Unwinding State’

Sarah Schonert 1

Eclectic in style, singer songwriter Sarah Schonert writes records and produces from her home studio in Peoria, Illinois. With a sound somewhere between Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, and Bjork, Sarah combines classical sounding piano with ambient washes, vocoded synths, electronic elements and layered vocals. The result is a free-flowing style album that will appeal to a diverse audience.

‘My Unwinding State’ is Sarah’s fourth album, and second LP release, and was released on 26 June.

‘My Unwinding State’ consists of 16 tracks, split into two parts, divided by an experimental piece, followed by an electronic instrumental.

There’s elements of David Bowie in this album as well, the song, ‘Break Me Down’ harks back to Bowie’s ‘Scary Monsters’ album, ambient sounds and ethereal vocals weaving in and out of the instrumentals.

Sarah Schonert has had nearly 25 years of piano and vocal performance, and has been writing and recording as a solo artist since 2012. Her considerable skills are evident in ‘My Unwinding State’ and the ambient quality of the tracks are at once appealing and mesmerising.

Sarah is a true artist, and in addition to her music, she also produces visual art, primarily using charcoal and acrylic. She uses her own work on her album and song artwork.

Well known in the Peoria area where she performs live on keyboards or piano, Sarah’s album is available from her Bandcamp page.
