Following up her 2015 hit single, ‘Luv My City’, South African artist Toya Delazy has announced the release of ‘Nu High’, available now on iTunes.

Now based in the UK, critically acclaimed Toya has joined forces with an elite team, including Troydon Murison, who is known for his work with Santigold, MIA, and Major Lazer.

Toya, who describes her musical style as JEHP Soul (Jazz, Electro-Hop, Pop), released her debut album, ‘Due Drop’ in 2012, through Sony music, seeing it certified gold, and earning her a BET Award nomination for Best International Act. Toya released the singles, ‘Pump It On’, ‘Love Is in the Air’, ‘Are You Gonna Stay?’, ‘Heart’, and ‘Memoriam’ from the album.

Toya’s music is inspired by her daily life experiences, and she cites her influences as including Kate Nash, John Legend, Radiohead, Tracy Chapman and Norah Jones among many others. Her love of music was born from listening to classical and orchestral songs, among them ‘Clair de Lune’ and ‘Psalms Of David’.

‘Nu High’ is the first track from Toya’s as yet unnamed new album, set for release later this year, her first as an independent artist on her own label, Delazy Entertainment.  ‘Nu High’ is a punchy dance track, with Toya sounding in parts as much like Lana Del Rey or Adele as like any of her inspirations.

Toya says of the track,

“Nu High is about knowing and believing in where you belong. It’s about the times when you were young, innocent and fearless and I believe we sometimes lose that when we grow up and become rigid and Nu High is about fun.”

Toya Delazy is about to embark on tour, starting with London’s Pride In The Park on June 26. For further information visit her official website.

You can find Toya Delazy online on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as her previously mentioned website.

‘Nu High’ is available on iTunes.
