JC Villafan 2

Hailing from Los Angeles, the singer-songwriter JC Villafan has been honing his craft since he was only 16 years old, performing in front of an American audience, as well as touring in Europe where he built a new loyal fanbase.

JCs delightful blend of pop, rock and folk especially won hearts in France, where his music has been featured on national television and radio, as well as in major media outlets.

Whether at home or abroad, JC always makes time to give to the community, with his ultimate goal to inspire and encourage others to pursue their wildest dreams.

JC is inspired by his parents, who instilled in him his altruism. After releasing the ‘Sweet Time’ EP, which was nominated in 2012 for Best EP at the LA Music Critic Awards, and its follow-up, ‘I Still Believe’ in 2014, JC Villafan is reflecting on his journey and his heritage in his debut album ‘America’s for Dreamers’. Back in 1991, his then 5-month-pregnant mother climbed the fence separating Mexico from the United States with her husband, with the hope to offer her unborn child a brighter future.

JC explains:
The story of the album continues with my ceaseless pursuit of a dream. A selfless dream that oversights fame and fortune for making a difference and uplifting those who stop to listen. The album ends at exactly right where I find myself today.

Set for release on May 17, ‘America’s For Dreamers’ will be followed by a European tour, starting in Belgium on 2 June. From there he will be making his way to Germany, France, and the UK, before eventually heading home for a few more dates in California.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
