Essential Advent Calendar: The Mariachis – ‘Coz It’s Christmas Time’

advent calendar 25

It’s Christmas Eve and the second last entry for our Essential Advent Calendar: the Mariachis with ‘Coz It’s Christmas Time’.

The Mariachis2

The Mariachis, based in the UK, hail from South America, with all members highly accomplished musicians and singers. Formed by Salvador Jimenez Hernandez, the band has performed acoustically for the Royal Family, as well as at the Wireless Music Festival. In 2014 they headlined the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury.

This month The Mariachis became the first ever Mariachi band to headline London’s Jazz Cafe, to coincide with the release of their Christmas single, ‘Coz It’s Christmas Time’.

As well as performing traditional Mariachi repertoire, The Mariachis take pop songs and give them a Mexican twist – including ‘Don’t You Want Me’ (The Human League), East 17s ‘Stay Another Day’, and the classic, ‘I Love Rock & Roll’, by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

‘Coz It’s Christmas Time’ is a fun take on standard Christmas songs, and is available on iTunes. Find The Mariachis online on Twitter, Facebook, and their website.

About the author

There’s a lot of music out there - good music. At Essentially Pop our remit is that we cover music that deserves to be heard, with a particular focus on independent artists. That doesn't mean we won't cover your old favourites - rather we hope to give you some new favourites as well.

We no longer accept unpaid PR agency work. We believe the creative arts have value, and this includes writing. As always, we will write about artists who contact us - or who we contact - for free - but we can no longer work free of charge for PR agencies. We work hard, we put in a lot of hours writing, and we ask that you respect that. Contact us for our very reasonable rates.
