The legend that is Nik Turner has released a new album, ‘Space Fusion Odyssey’. The album is the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Space Gypsy’, the most acclaimed album of his solo career.

Founder of seminal 70s band Hawkwind, Turner stretches his already prodigious saxophone and flute playing skills with this album – creating instrumental soundscapes which entrance, confound and stimulate all at once. As with many of his previous releases, Nik has surrounded himself with those musicians who share his vision – including legendary jazz drummer Billy Cobham, Robby Krieger, who played guitar with The Doors, Steve Hillage and Gili Smith of Gong, and Soft Machine’s John Etheridge.

‘Space Fusion Odyssey’ is an ethereal blend of jazz, blues, fusion and other eclectic styles created by Turner and his crew.

We had the immense pleasure to interview Nik Turner earlier this year, and were touched by both his wisdom and humility – he is a man fully committed to his music and the desire to share his vision with the world.

Later this year will see the publication of ‘The Spirit of Hawkwind 1969 -1976’ – the definitive biography of Hawkwind’s early years as told through the eyes of Nik Turner. Written by music historian Dave Thompson, the hardcover book contains over 250 pages of rare and unseen photos as well as a comprehensive discography – a feast for Hawkwind fans everywhere.
