Moonbabies, a Dreampop duo comprising husband and wife team Ola and Carina Johansson Frick, formed in Malmö, Sweden in 1997. Initially a shoegaze-inspired band, they progressed steadily into more electronic directions.

Taking a seven year hiatus, the duo has returned with the album, ‘Wizards on the Beach’, released earlier this spring. The deluxe edition has now been released, with a full twelve extra songs in addition to the existing ten.

Six of the additional songs are actually alernative reworkings of existing songs, and outtakes from the ‘Wizards on the Beach’ studio sessions; the remaining 6 are remixes by collaborators and friends, including The Glass Children, from the UK; Watermark High, from South Africa; Sweden’s The Land Below, and Orange Crate Art; Cantaloupe (also from the UK), and; Jan Hertz, who’s from Germany.

Speaking about the album, Ola Frick said,

“This album began as an experimentation of songwriting. After Seven years of working on this album, we are extremely proud of the songs and the direction it took. ‘Wizards on the Beach’ turned from being an artist’s worst nightmare to something that we feel is unique, interesting and experimental, but in its core is all about being honest and pure and doing music that speaks to yourself.”

‘Wizards on the Beach’ (Deluxe Edition) was released digitally, via Culture Hero, on 28 October. Find Moonbabies online on their website, Twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, Instagram, and Youtube. ‘Wizards on the Beach’ is available to buy from their website, via digital download, or limited edition vinyl (note: this is the original release, not the Deluxe edition).
