The concept for the Rock Back compilation series started back in 2011 when label owner of Patetico Records, Tom Lugo, had an idea of how he could help the victims of the earthquake disaster in Japan; by gathering a community of artists that he had in his network and releasing a compilation, Rock Back For Japan, in which the profits would be donated to relief efforts. The compilation was a huge success hitting the top 10 Indie Rock Releases on Amazon.com‘s chart for several weeks with certain volumes holding the number 1 spot.
