Jedward – ‘Leave A Mark’

Leave a Mark Legacy2

Following on from their icon-filled video, Jedward’s new track, ‘Leave A Mark’ has been released today, with both lyric and instrumental versions available.

The song stands up well without the video, the vocals showing how far the Dublin twins have come, especially when compared to their earliest releases. Emotive lyrics such as “Be your own canvas, paint the vision you see, Use whatever colours to show how you feel” challenge the listener to actually take a look at their lives and make whatever changes are possible. Other lyrics, “Before your days are numbered, laugh out loud, Do the right thing, stand tall and proud” take this a step further – don’t just look at what needs changing, but do the right thing before it’s too late.

‘Leave A Mark’ is the latest in a series of inspirational songs from John and Edward. When they released ‘Free Spirit’ early last year, a song about being your own person, doing your own thing, it was clear the direction the twins were taking. ‘Leave A Mark’ can be seen as a companion piece to ‘Free Spirit’ – similar in tempo, style, and lyrical theme.

The instrumental version is a lovely piece on its own. Speaking about their music last year, John said that all their songs start out as guitar pieces, then re-interpreted using Logic Pro and other music production tools. It would be great to hear this and their other tracks performed acoustically.

‘Leave A Mark’ is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play Store, 7 Digital, and HMV Digital. You can also stream it on Spotify.

Jedward will be performing at Signal 1 Total Access Live, at Betley Park Farm, near Crewe this Saturday 15 August. Tickets available here. They will also be performing at Switch On for The Blackpool Illuminations, as well as St Andrew’s University Freshers’ Week.
