GEORGIE FAME THE WHOLE WORLD’S SHAKING: THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS 1963–66

Georgie Fame1

Georgie Fame is a true hero of rhythm and blues, a musician and bandleader who drew from jazz, soul and Jamaican bluebeat to create his own dynamic sound, paving the way for a hugely successful career. Now into its sixth decade, Georgie Fame’s reputation as a true master of his trade is very firmly assured.

‘The Whole World’s Shaking: The Complete Recordings 1963-66’ is a five-disc CD Box Set with expanded editions of the albums, ‘Rhythm And Blues At The Flamingo’, ‘Fame At Last’, ‘Sweet Things’ and ‘Sound Venture’ – each featuring a multitude of extra tracks. The fifth disc, entitled ‘Bend A Little: Demos, Rarities, B-Sides And Outtakes’ is packed with rare treasures (including 18 previously unreleased tracks) from the period, sourced following a worldwide search of tape libraries.

Extensive liner notes come courtesy of author Chris Welch, and the inner booklet features many previously unseen photos.

It’s a very classy collection from a superb musician who avoids the limelight, and simply maintains,

“Some people think I’m a rock’n’roll musician and some think I’m a jazz musician but, for me, there is no difference”.

To commemorate the release of ‘The Whole World’s Shaking: The Complete Recordings 1963-66’, Georgie Fame will be touring with his band (featuring sons Tristan and James) in October.
