What Direction for One Direction?

One-DirectionAre One Direction heading the wrong way? If their recent single release, the title track from their third album, “Midnight Memories” is any indication, this might be the case. The song was released on March 9, and according to the Official Charts Company on March 16, peaked at only Number 39 in the UK Top 100 Singles Chart. This is their lowest chart entry to date.

All is not lost however, with the former XFactor lads pressing a special vinyl edition of the single in time for Record Store Day, held this year on April 19.

Harry Styles recently compared their first arrival in the US to that of the Beatles, saying,

“Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness, it was exactly the same as when we got there – just 50 years earlier.

“But none of us think we’re in the same league as them music-wise. We’d be total fools if we did. Fame-wise it’s probably even bigger, but we don’t stand anywhere near them in terms of music.”
