Ferry Corsten, from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, got into music as a hobby. Such was his passion however that it rapidly spiralled into a full-blown profession. His emotionally charged electronic dance music, which crosses genres – not just trance, but also progressive-house, and electro – has always put him ahead of the game, making music which others try to emulate.
Yesterday we wrote about Amaru’s empowering new single, ‘Champagne Attitude (Rap-Titude Mix)’. We found him to be very interesting, and so invited him to answer six quick questions for us. True to our impressions, Amaru came back with some very informative answers, giving a deep insight into the music business, as well as other aspects of the entertainment industry.
19 year old Tomhio, from Rotterdam in The Netherlands, started playing piano at a young age, before developing his skills as a drummer. He was asked to play drums in a band with friends, and thereafter became interested in recording their music. From there he started recording and producing music for the band, before moving on to his own music.
From Nijmegen in the Netherlands, DJ and Producer ATSOLOK is best known for his ability to produce any genre or beat, and mix all of them when performing live on stage. He spends most of his time in the studio creating new tracks. ‘Dance With The Devil’ sees him collaborate with Future Cartel, with whom he’s worked previously.
Pierre de la Mer is a DJ from Amsterdam who plays house, techno, disco, pop, and jazz, as well as his own mash-ups. His track, ‘MadDonna’, is dedicated to the Material Girl herself, as well as the #MeToo movement, and is a sparkling blend of some of Madonna’s laid on a bed of synthy instrumentation.
Multi-faceted Amaris Wenceslas was born in The Netherlands in 1991 and grew up in Switzerland. A producer, singer, author and actress, she is behind Ámaris, and Geiko, a female electronic dance music project, who released their first album in 2014. Amaris released two albums in 2017, at the same time – ‘The Hollow’, for Geiko, and ‘Neon Colors’, her first step into a newer, poppier direction.
Armin van Buuren is not just a top EDM artist – he’s also co-founder of Armada Music, a label where everyone is proud of the loving family atmosphere. So when Armin and his collaborator BullySongs announced to the staff that they would all have a feature role in the video for their new song, ‘Freefall’, they were understandably over the moon. One catch however – it involved skydiving. Right then at that very moment.
