Florida’s DigDog Gives Us ‘One Guarantee’ With Latest Single

Jacksonville, Florida trio DigDog are proof that you don’t have to be born in a particular place to call it your home, and likewise, blood doesn’t make a family. True, Brad Metz is a Florida native, but his bandmates Alexei Dotsenko, and Jack Ringca are, respectively, from Russia, and, “a man of the world”. Together the three of them have found not just home, but also a family. Their new single, ‘One Guarantee’, sees the three come together with an approach to music that doesn’t just showcase their individual musical talents, but also their own influences and inspirations.

‘One Guarantee’ at first listen seems an appropriate song for “Spooky Season”, with its dirge-like vocal tempo and minor key instrumentation. But it’s so much more than that; written during the Covid-19 Pandemic, it’s very much an introspective look at life and what it all means. They sum it up with the phrase, “there is only one guarantee” – no matter what we do in life, the only guarantee is our eventual death. “Some will fail, some will excel”, but in the end we all die. It could be a depressing, “why should we bother” song, but DigDog make it very clear that they’re choosing to live their very best lives.

Written during much of the enforced homestay in 2020, DigDog wrote, edited, and rewrote a series of songs which eventually became their latest project, ‘Homeless Theatre’, from which ‘One Guarantee’ comes. It’s not their first release, but in a way, it’s a rebirth, as the Pandemic caused them to refocus on what they stood for. For all its sombre sound, ‘One Guarantee’ will leave you feeling positive, and hopefully give you the determination to make the very best of your life.
