Dici – ‘Flip’

At just 18 years old and still in high school, indie rap artist DICI is on the road to becoming a massive hit. A creative visionary, he has used the Covid-19 quarantine period to producing sonic textures, freestyle rhymes, and bass bumping beats, his hustle ensuring he gained an international following. DICI has to date accumulated more than 1.5 million streams on YouTube, and one million on Spotify across an incredible 100 countries.

DICI is clearly a special one; he’s not just a talented artist, but he has had this entrepreneurial mindset from a young age – as an example, while he was still in middle school days, he would sell customised sneakers to his classmates. Now he’s developing his brand and identity through his own record label, DICI Records LLC, and is set to raise the mercury with the highly anticipated release of his 7-track debut album, ‘DOSES’.

A skilled storyteller, DICI tells his truths through his raps and visually-gripping music videos. For his latest track, ‘Flip’, he’s enlisted the help of Emmy-winning director and cinematographer, Brian Bayer. In the clip the rapper breaks into a luxury villa and performs in front of the security camera. Sunny shots in the courtyard are interspersed with moody, cascading lights in the hallways. DICI’s abilities belie his age; he is able to discuss mature concepts using the metaphors of life, giving them a fresh perspective. The addictive hook in ‘Flip’ hints at how quickly people switch sides when someone becomes famous – in DICI’s own case, people who once said he would never amount to anything are now praising his success. Truly the song and video stand as a worthy testament to DICI’s talent and genius.
