Chris Beer’s warm, conversational style makes you feel like you’re a good friend and that he wants you to have a good time. Approachable, and frank, the songs of the Austrian-based singer-songwriter are experimental, yet never lose the artist’s desire to communicate. Making good use of elements of genres such as classic rock, folk, reggae, and pop, nonetheless Beer’s sound is his very own.
His latest single, ‘Nothing Like’, is the lead track of his upcoming album, ‘Who We Are’, and perfectly sums up the release. Beer reminds us that there is no greater feeling than that which comes when we’ve fully engaged with our wants and desires – when we truly seize the day. Beer is fully dedicated to encouraging us to chase after and achieve our dreams. Additionally, Beer wants us all to stand up against racism, as well as the desire to decelerate in our society, and his laid-back, soothing music certainly contributes to that feeling.
The video for ‘Nothing Like’ shows Beer with his wife and two children, all three the purest example of contentment, and real joy. We see the children jumping into the water feet-first, waves crashing onto rocks, cyclists riding along, mountain climbers helping each other up to the peaks, potters moulding clay into gorgeous creations. All this serves as a mirror to Beer’s longing for deceleration. It’s all beautifully shot, and wonderfully inviting, and compelling. We all need to get out there and enjoy ourselves. Chris Beer is already doing it.
