Introducing Janet Batch And Her New Single, ‘Got No Idea’

Hailing from Ithaca New York, singer songwriter Janet Batch is the perfect blend of Stevie Nicks and Johnny Cash – with a little bit of Rosemary Clooney thrown in for good measure – with her brand new single, ‘Got No Idea’. Janet’s style will get your feet stomping as she beguiles you with her tales of being pulled by her bootstraps growing up in the Rust Belt of Northeast USA.

Janet’s become a firm favourite in her area with her debut album, ‘A Good Woman Is Hard To Find’, which saw her quickly nicknamed, “The Voice Of The Hills” after its release. The new single comes from her upcoming album, ‘You Be The Wolf’, set for release on October 29.

Janet and her four piece band have a 70s and 80s country radio music vibe about them, reminiscent of the music she was brought up on. Her lyrics are akin to poetry and work just as well without music as with; they’re stories to be told in many different formats.

Janet grew up on a dairy farm, and to some extent this can be heard in all her creations. There’s also some larger than life stories of strong and memorable characters, whose lives are lived out in the rural towns in and around her own. Speaking of her inspiration, Janet says,

“The voice in my head sometimes sounds like an old man’s. Words I have never once uttered in real life show up in my lyrics.  And some of the stories in these songs are just stories I told myself as a kid. No one told me otherwise.”

Janet’s band is just as talented as her, coming from a collaborative pool of musicians, each with their own distinct influences. Sid Green on lead guitar provides the classic country sound, while Mike Brando and Chris Ploss give the group their rhythm, performing on bass and percussion, respectively.

‘You Be The Wolf’ is set for release on October 29, and can be pre-ordered from Bandcamp. You can also buy ‘A Good Woman Is Hard To Find’ from there.
