“If I Can’t Dance, It’s Not My Revolution.” – President Street’s TIME IS UP: The Redondo Remix

Anarchist Emma Goldman once said “If I can’t dance, it’s not my revolution”. This is exactly the stance which President Street has taken when writing and releasing their protest song, ‘Time Is Up’, now out with a stellar remix from Redondo.

Inspired by the many movements the world saw over the last few years – whether climate change, marriage equality, LGBTQIA rights, police brutality, me-too or black lives matter protests the world over – TIME IS UP is a cry out in the face of adversity and a call to stand against injustice and divisiveness, whoever you are.

Speaking of the song, President Street said that,

“We want it to be defiant but also have a sense of joy and hope about it.” This is something reflected in the celebratory carnival-esque nature of the song’s production, Ruby’s uplifting vocal line, and the defiance found in the lyrics themselves.

“Watching the news we were struck by the diversity of people coming together peacefully and so we wanted it to feel like a celebration of people of all colours, age, religions and gender coming together to say that we’ve all had enough, and the time for change is now.”

Already full of energy, the remix provides a killer beat which makes the track even more danceable – because what more could you want from a protest song? ‘Time Is Up’ is more than a protest, it’s a celebration of the resilience of the human spirit.
