Wonder Ihieri Releases Album, ‘Elevation’

Nigerian artist, Wonder Ihieri, takes his inspiration from the Word Of God, in his new EP, ‘Elevation’. The record follows on from his debut EP, ‘Illumination’, which was released a year ago, and has earned him praise from fellow Nigerian artists, Adekunle Gold, and Simi.

Wonder Ihieri doesn’t subscribe to any particular genre with his music, and instead fuses elements of pop, R&B, and rock, in order to channel and express his faith, and share his message, in a style he describes as Alternative Christian. Wonder believes in the power of music as a form of worship, and considers it way to broaden your understanding of God, and faith.

‘Elevation’ contains four tracks, covering themes of love, belief and empowerment and looking outside of yourself. Speaking about the EP, Wonder Ihieri said,

“The EP is named ‘Elevation’ because it is aimed at taking people and keeping them in a higher state of mind.”

Opening with the title track, Wonder Ihieri enlists a stream of consciousness style of singing, set against a light electronic and synth instrumental. This is followed by ‘Peter’s Heart’, a piano-led track which serves as a beautiful showcase of Wonder’s considerable vocal talent. ‘Holy Spirit’, the third track on the EP, is an emotive track which feels as much like a prayer as a song – it’s deeply personal and heartfelt. Final track, ‘Greatest Love’, is the most upbeat track, with a guitar accompanying Wonder’s sweet vocals as he makes his declaration of faith in Christ.

‘Elevation’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here.
