Chad Rico – ‘New Level/Night in Barcelona’

Chad Rico, from Richmond California, is not all he first appears to be. Entrepreneur, financial analyst, clothing manufacturer/designer, filmmaker – he’s been all of these, and a maths college professor as well. Now add hip hop artist to the the list! His debut 7 track EP, ‘Myth’, was released in 2018 to much acclaim, from which comes his single ‘New Level’.

Chad Rico is currently working with film producer Haqq Shabazz, and together they have plans to produce and release a new film next year. He also designs merch for his label Gold & Gems, through which he releases his music. In short, Chad Rico is a creative genius, a polymath, an everyman – not just a jack of all trades but a master of them all too.

The video for ‘New Level’ sees galaxy guardian Chad, along with his crew, travelling to Planet Crunk, on a quest to save beautiful interstellar aliens from dastardly villain Diablo Grande, played by Glenn Plummer. Chad frees his damsel in distress Sasha Verde – resplendent in green body art crafted by makeup artist Pashur – and the pair walk back to his spaceship, hand in hand.

The cinematic video for ‘New Level’ was shot in the San Fernando Valley of California, itself no stranger to space, having served as the location of many episodes of Star Trek the original series. As the crew fly off to the foreign planet, the clip transitions into an interstellar party, with cosmic cocktails. Here we are treated to the beginning of Chad Rico’s new single, ‘Night In Barcelona’, and as they party like it’s 2499, we’re treated to new levels and heights, not to mention new and uncharted territories, for the crew to take over.
