KOTH – ‘My Time’

Quite a number of KOTH’s singles have garnered praise from esteemed publications, such as The Hype Magazine, and Elevator, and the Seattle artist has supported the likes of Slick Rick, Mobb Deep, and Mos Def, not to mention selling out The Crocodile in his home town, with TylerxCordy. Latest single, ‘My Time’, which is the first track from his upcoming set, ‘First Team’, is a banger of an anthem, with a relatable theme for anyone who’s chasing those dreams and catching them, making their moment – in their own time.

KOTH – an acronym for “King Of The Hill”, is the sort of artist who’s able to repeatedly release music with slick creative visuals, production that makes your head bob, and lyrics that have the listeners rewind over and over to scan for metaphors and double entendres. He’s able to load fresh content onto social media while defining and redefining his brand with ease.

KOTH, real name Thaddeus David, has been the king of Seattle’s underground rap scene for years both by himself and as a member of Helluvastate, and State Of The Artist. He took a short break, but the rapper returned with his new stage name late last year, and re-kindled the flame he left burning.

The clip for ‘My Time’ sees KOTH and his crew taking a scenic cruise through Seattle, checking out landmarks such as the Space Needle, and SODO. Although directed by Deadeyez, it’s KOTH who dominates the screen. All the while KOTH spits out his rhymes, the simple, yet bold piano punctuating his flow. His voice hints at his ego, but if that’s the case then it’s well deserved, as he’s been on the grind for more than a decade and he’s worked hard for what he’s got. KOTH is driven, he knows what he wants, and knows he’ll get it – and he continues to strive for more.
