We’ve featured LBM, aka Lil Big Medium, back in May, with his single, ‘Stranded‘. Now the LA based, Pennsylvania native returns with his new release, ‘Make Believe’, which sees him pick up where that song and video left off.
On ‘Make Believe’, LBM finds a way for his voice to zero in right to the heart, the simple guitar and ambient synths providing a foundation for his soaring vocals. The chorus is reminiscent of a fully-charged Justin Bieber, while the lyrics are a showcase for LBM’s prowess as a songwriter and storyteller.
On ‘Stranded’ we saw LBM escaping from the clutches of an abusive ex-partner, only for it to end with him being trapped by her on a bridge out in the middle of nowhere. ‘Make Believe’ picks up immediately after that, slumped against the rail showing the damage he’s suffered at his former love’s hands, the injuries mirroring the emotional suffering he’s experienced. He’s fading in and out, between alert and unconscious, and thinks back to a time spent with a new love, and a relationship with a promising future. It’s uncertain as to whether or not this relationship was real or imagined – are we watching him die on the bridge? One thing’s for sure, this cliff-hanger leaves plenty of room for a sequel, so stay tuned for LBM’s next release.
