Larry Pink The Human Releases ‘Purpose Built’

LARRY PINK THE HUMAN has released their brand new single ‘PURPOSE BUILT’. The track premiered with Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music and was followed by a play from Jack Saunders on his Radio 1 show who said the song has a,

“really nice melancholic touch, but mixed with the pure unconditional love in the lyrics, it just takes the emotion to a whole other level.”

‘PURPOSE BUILT’ is a dreamy indie track about being lost in the moment, which features delicate guitars, hypnotic electronics and an anthemic chorus that rises from the subtle musical touches.

Regarding the single LARRY PINK THE HUMAN say, “‘PURPOSE BUILT’ is a song about losing yourself in and with another person in the perpetual moment. Occupying that space however romantic or mundane. Written in the deepest contentment a song about finding someone who is your home. The world becoming perfect poetry.”

“A contemplative, melodic and sweetly affective number” – DIY

Created during lockdown, the video for the single has been curated by the band in collaboration with photographer and now director George Cory.

“We wanted to reflect the imagery that surrounds us, the calm and beauty of the Kent coast is where we spend a lot of our time when we’re together,” the band explain.

“Laurie’s very melancholic pop writing mixed with the big, vibrant, psychedelic production of Jolyon is an absolute match made in heaven” – Jack Saunders, Radio 1

“Killer debut single” – Daily Star

“George creates these Félix Valloton inspired photographs and we felt if they had some movement with video, they’d really encapsulate the feel of the song and our surroundings. Also, with lockdown in full swing the emptiness really felt cinematic and eerily stunning. Margate artist Rory Strudwick then tied it all together with a hand-screen-printed single artwork. It’s a colour study that Rory made, but to us it feels like a sunset, the sea, the sky. It’s awesome!”

“This is a really exciting one” -Annie Mac, Radio 1

‘PURPOSE BUILT’ is the third song to be released from LARRY PINK THE HUMAN since they emerged this year to huge radio support and critical praise. Their debut single ‘LOVE YOU, BYE.’ was quick to prove a hit at radio with support from Radio 1 and BBC 6Music. It was also added to the X-Posure evening playlist at Radio X, while receiving press support from the likes of NME, DIY, Dork, Daily Star and more.

The band’s follow-up single ‘MIGHT DELETE LATER’ built on the impressive first statement with an anthemic new wave brit-pop sound. It has been featured as ‘Tune Of The Week’ on the Jack Saunders’ Radio 1 Indie Show alongside plays from Annie Mac and Phil Taggart, while Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs and Chris Hawkins are big fans at BBC 6Music.

“Gorgeously crafted bedroom pop songs” – NME

The ethos of LARRY PINK THE HUMAN is to challenge normal human perceptions, no better demonstrated than with the band members themselves. Jolyon Thomas, whose work as a producer includes such artists as Kendrick Lamar, U2 and Royal Blood, is now stepping out from the studio and onto the stage as a songwriter and performer, while Laurie Vincent – who as a guitarist forms one half of the band Slaves – takes the role of lyricist and frontman.

LARRY PINK THE HUMAN the band are exploring sounds never heard from the pair before. They are proving a constant surprise to fans and quickly solidifying their status in 2020.

“Continuing to defy expectations” – GIGWISE
