Alex Brenchley Releases New EP, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice?’

Out on Monday, June 8, London based artist and musician Alex Brenchley’s latest release, ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice?’, is an EP of Beach Boys covers, allowing Alex to immerse himself in their songwriting genius.

Crowdfunding music company Songbook came up with the idea, after Dutch director requested Brenchley cover ‘God Only Knows’, as an engagement present; the result is a rather fun project of simple, indie-pop re-imaginings – the perfect antidote to the lockdown doldrums.

The four track EP, comprising ‘Wouldn’t Be Nice?’, ‘Heroes & Villains’, ‘I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times’, and ‘Your Summer Dream’, leaves the songs unmistakably Beach Boys tracks, but with Bretchley’s treatment they are given a new lease of life.

The EP follows on from Alex’s 2019 album, ‘Daylight Snobbery’. The artist and musician was awarded the Mayor Of London Award For Emerging Artists shortly after.

Additionally, Bretchley has performed – and exhibited – at many of London’s finest venues, including St Pancras Old Church, The V&A, The Roundhouse, and The Barbican Art Gallery. Bretchley has worked with artists including Noah And The Whale, and Tom Rosenthal.

‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ will be available to stream and download on all major streaming platforms from June 8. You can find Alex Bretchley online on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Listen to more of his music on Soundcloud, and Spotify.
