The latest in a series of acoustic guitar covers, John Grimes from Irish duo Jedward has today released a gorgeous rendition of the recent release, ‘Stuck With U’, from Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.
The original reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100, as well as the Rolling Stone Top 100, and in Canada, Malaysia, and New Zealand, and the cover follows on from John’s treatment of Harry Styles’ ‘Cherry‘, which included a verse he had written.
John retains the doo-wop tempo of the Grande/Bieber release, but takes on the challenge of singing both parts, making the switch between the falsetto and tenor parts with ease, showcasing once more his considerable vocal talents. Additionally John plays his guitar at the same time – no mean feat under normal circumstances – more so when you’re concentrating on which vocal range to sing in.

‘Stuck With U’ was released by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber on May 8 as a charity single, with all net proceeds from the track going to The First Responders Children’s Foundation. The money will fund scholarships of children of frontline workers whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jedward released their fourth album, ‘Voice Of A Rebel’, last June, and have since been working on songs for their fifth album, while on lockdown in Los Angeles. They also featured heavily in the coverage for this year’s ‘Eurovision At Home’, as the song contest was cancelled this year for the first time ever in its 64 year history, due to Covid-19. Not only did John and Edward perform an acoustic rendition of their 2011 hit, ‘Lipstick’ (with which they represented Ireland), but they also covered ‘Satellite’, by German singer Lena, who won the contest in 2010.
