Project213 – ‘Naughty Jenny’

Created by Idaho’s Jared Hallock, and named after the room number of his college music room, where he and his friends used to hang out, Project213 mashes a variety of genres and frequencies, and with latest single, ‘Naughty Jenny’, could quite possibly bend your mind. You’ve been warned.

Project213 was started in 2005 and although initially a studio project, with a rotating cast of thousands, it’s now a more solid line-up with ‘Naughty Jenny’.

Project213 are an indie scene dream, with their driving rhythms and dark, albeit quirky, undertones fitting perfectly into festivals like Treefort, as well as local Boise venues, such as Neurolux, which naturally, with all its cool music history, was the ideal choice for the ‘Naughty Jenny’ video.

Outside of this current project, Hallock is a composer for dance, film, and web series, and he composed the score for the comedy web series, ‘Vagina Town’, after whose main character, ‘Naughty Jenny’, is named. An early version of the song was even featured in episode 4 of the series.

Naughty Jenny would be a fun secret to keep
I keep my secrets with my candy underneath my sheets
That crooked smile makes my head spin around and twirl
Those jaded eyes makes me want to swim inside her world

The video shows the band performing at Neurolux, with Jenny working as a waitress, wiping down tables and generally going about her business. Hallock meanwhile is singing of his burgeoning desire for Jenny, and this is shown in the clip, with him standing outside, while Jenny passes along, pausing only to seduce him. The clip ends with him rushing outside, only to discover she’s no longer there. Did any of this really happen, or was it just in his mind?
