Singer Songwriter Keenan Willard Releases Video For Debut Single ‘Like You Do’

It’s hard to believe, but Keenan Willard only started writing songs at the start of 2019. His debut single, ‘Like You Do’, released ahead of an EP set to come out in the summer, sees him drawing on his North Carolina roots, and infusing his sound with the inspirations served by his surroundings in El Paso, where he is based, and works as a TV reporter.

Recorded at Beacon Hill Studios, which is best known for being where Khalid’s first album, ‘American Teen’, was produced, pop infused track ‘Like You Do’ sees Willard spout out lyrics in a stream of consciousness, sharing deeply personal thoughts and feelings with his listeners. A simple instrumentation – guitars and heartbeat paced drums – subtly backs his vocals, which are strong and emotionally charged. Willard’s feelings are deeply felt, strong and tumultuous, and he is able to convey perfectly this to the listener.

‘Like You Do’ is supported by a music video shot in the desert around El Paso, and the song takes on the area’s aesthetic, the starkness and isolation a clear representation of the lyrics.
