New York hip hop artist Antonio Rosario, who has been performing as FadeTheBlackk for the past seven years, harks back to his Latin American roots with his latest single, ‘Successful’. The composer, audio engineer, and influencer is new to us here at EP, but with the motto of, “Dare to be different, Then be yourself”, we’re sure to be hearing a lot more of him.
In 2018 FadeTheBlackk signed with Warner Music Group, as part of their indie music distribution platform, Level. He released his comeback single, ‘Visions’ through the platform, which served as a showcase for the growth and development he’d achieved. ‘Visions’ is a showcase of his lyrical prowess, which lays in promoting a positive image of change in his listeners. The line, “We took it to the sky and the glass broke”, is just one example of this, focusing on the changes he’s made in his life, and encouraging his listeners to take his example as inspiration. The power to change is the primary subject matter in FadeTheBlackk‘s songs, with ‘Visions’ in particular focusing on the changes he’s made in his life from his Bronx upbringing.
More recently, FadeTheBlackk released the track ‘Successful’, comprising slick RnB vocals overlaid with powerful rhymes.
Featuring b*star, and James Scott, and produced by The Cratez, ‘Successful’ is a song made up of two distinct layers which work together to make a whole. The RnB layer is classic Motown style; think Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, ‘Tears Of A Clown’; while the rap layer sees FadeTheBlackk take hold, imbibing further the emotion that’s already strongly felt. He’s seen too many heartaches; he’s seen too many people accept that things have to be as they are, with no hope for change. He knows life doesn’t have to be that way, we can all make changes in our lives if we really want them.
An empowering track, ‘Success’ encourages the listener to pay attention to our dreams and goals, and to be sure that if we never give up we’ll get there – we’ll be successful.
