The Essential Advent Calendar: December 10 – Ingrid Michaelson Duets With Jason Mraz On ‘Christmas Valentine’

Door 10 of our Essential Advent Calendar this year opens on Ingrid Michaelson, who duets with Jason Mraz on her new holiday single, ‘Christmas Valentine’. The singer songwriter has nine albums under her belt, and loves making music that people connect with – so it’s no wonder she loves Christmas music!

This is the first of our Christmas songs from Ingrid, who is constantly on the go when it comes to making music, collaborating with other high-profile artists, and touring around the world. She released her first holiday album last year, ‘Ingrid Michaelson’s Songs For The Season’, and has now released ‘Christmas Valentine’ as an Amazon Original, which premiered on Billboard.com. The song is a commemoration and celebration of Christmas in New York, the City That Never Sleeps – very fitting for the non-stop Ingrid.

Speaking of the duet with Mraz, Ingrid says,

“Jason and I toured together years ago, and I got to know his kind spirit. He really embodies what the season is all about. We were both on the road and had to record our parts separately, but when we finally got in the same room for the photoshoot, that incredible spirit was shining all around him! The only regret I have about this song is that we didn’t collaborate sooner.”

Mraz adds,

“Aww, Ingrid is the sweetest. I’m very flattered she thought of me, and I’m thrilled to be associated. I love holiday music, and I believe what Ingrid has created has the goods to become a new holiday classic.”

Watch the gorgeous video below for ‘Christmas Valentine’, which features, in animated form, both Michaelson and Mraz, as well as familiar New York City scenes such as the Brooklyn Bridge, yellow cabs, and ice skating at the Rockefeller Center.
